Medication
When planning a pregnancy, only take medication after consulting with a doctor. This advice applies to both you and your partner. Sometimes, it's wise to stop medication before conception, switch to a different medication, or adjust the dosage. Only paracetamol is safe to use during pregnancy planning and throughout pregnancy without consultation.
Work
At your workplace, there may be conditions that can affect your fertility or have an impact during early pregnancy. Consider risks such as: exposure to hazardous substances like solvents or pesticides, irregular working hours (such as shift work and night shifts), physically demanding work, unhealthy stress, environments with noise/overpressure/body vibrations/extreme heat or cold, and exposure to radiation. Discuss the implications of these factors for pregnancy with your employer or an occupational health physician. Together, you can explore options for adjusting your tasks and/or working hours.
If you work with young children and have never had chickenpox, consider getting vaccinated before pregnancy. More info here .
Drugs
Drugs negatively affect your fertility and can increase the risk of congenital abnormalities if used around conception.
