During the early ultrasound, we can see whether the heartbeat is present and whether the pregnancy is located in the uterus. We perform this ultrasound around 8 weeks. Before 8 weeks, an ultrasound can sometimes give results that may be misleading or cause unnecessary worry or excitement. At amsterMAM, we offer this early ultrasound to all our clients to support you and provide guidance from the very start of your pregnancy as a gift.

The best chance for beautiful 3D/4D images is between 20-30 weeks of pregnancy. It may happen that the baby’s position or the amount of amniotic fluid can prevent clear images, even though we use all available techniques.
We look at the baby in 2D, 3D, and 4D. The best chance for clear images is between 27-29 weeks of pregnancy. You always receive 3-5 printed photos and a link to all the images in a secure environment. You have 30 days to downloadthe images before the link expires.
This ultrasound is for bonding and viewing purposes only and is not intended for medical diagnosis. This means that the baby will not be measured. If measurements are desired—which we perform from 28 weeks onwards, not earlier—you can indicate this to your midwife.
Note: besides having good equipment and skilled sonographers, we also need the cooperation of your baby.
