At amstermam, we give you more than you expect. Our midwifery practice in Amsterdam provides all the care and support you need during your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period. We take the time for you, listen to you, and share our knowledge to ensure you always feel supported.

We are located in four locations in the city: noord, west, oost and centerLooking for a midwife in Amsterdam West? Our main location is only a 12-minute walk from Amsterdam Central Station, with convenient parking right outside. Here you’ll find dedicated midwife teams who provide personal pregnancy care — from your first positive test until after your baby is born.

At our location in West, you can not only visit for early ultrasounds and standard consultations, but also for group sessions like Centering Pregnancy. Additionally, we offer complementary services under one roof, such as physiotherapy, reflexology, massages, and psychological support. Everything you need, all in one place.

‘It takes a village to raise a child’.

At Amstermam, as an expectant mother, you can choose to participate in a Centering Pregnancy group instead of the usual brief consultations. Together with other women who are in the same stage of pregnancy, you share experiences and grow toward motherhood together. It’s a place where special friendships can form.

The extended sessions are led by a dedicated midwife and cover a wide range of topics related to pregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, and parenting. Centering Pregnancy is scientifically proven and offers many benefits, such as a lower risk of preterm birth, better preparation for labor, reduced stress, and a higher chance of successful breastfeeding. You can even receive leave from your employer to attend these sessions – we have a special letter available for you to use.

If you prefer standard maternity care, that's perfectly fine too. During the intake, we'll discuss together what works best for you.

Regular maternity care

At our location in West, you are also welcome for our standard maternity care. Here, you can visit regularly for personal one-on-one consultations. During your pregnancy, we schedule between 7 and 10 appointments, each lasting about 20 minutes, so we can closely monitor both your well-being and that of your baby.

Ultrasounds

At amstermam, you can go for various ultrasounds, such as:

  • early ultrasound,
  • dating ultrasound,
  • 13-week ultrasound,
  • 20-week ultrasound,
  • growth ultrasound
  • and the position ultrasound

In addition, we also offer prenatal ultrasounds, such as the gender ultrasound, using 2D, 3D, and 4D technology to provide you with the most beautiful images. You will leave with 3 to 5 printed photos and a USB stick full of moving images. All our ultrasounds are performed by our own experienced sonographers, so you are always in trusted hands.

In addition to our maternity care and various types of ultrasounds, we also offer a range of other services at our West location that can support you before, during, or after your pregnancy. These include:

A big recommendation! The ladies at Amstermam radiate calm and trust; I always felt seen during the check-ups and left feeling happy. The atmosphere at the practice is relaxed, warm, and homely. The support leading up to and during the birth was very positive. There was room for both 'pragmatic' medical choices as well as perspectives from more alternative care approaches. The Centering Pregnancy program was a fun way to receive information because, in a group, you gain double the amount of insights and perspectives through the questions and experiences of others. It also connected me with other mothers in the neighborhood, and I’ve formed valuable new friendships for myself and our son. A few years ago, I got the recommendation from a friend, and now I personally recommend Amstermam to every expectant mother in Amsterdam West.
