Ultrasounds with care

All ultrasounds are carefully performed by an experienced sonographer in our atmospheric and warm practice.

We are certified to perform all medical ultrasounds and do this on the Voluson S10 Expert. We have contracts with every Dutch health insurer for all standard ultrasounds and ultrasounds on indication.
But you are also more than welcome if you want to admire your baby with a fun ultrasound.

An early ultrasound for everyone

Welcome gift

As a welcome gift, all Amstermam clients receive an early ultrasound. During the early ultrasound we can see if the heart is beating and if the pregnancy is in the womb. We do this ultrasound from 8 weeks. Before 8 weeks, the ultrasound can give false reassurance or happiness.

An ultrasound for every moment

These ultrasounds are reimbursed by (Dutch and EU) health insurers.

The exact term of pregnancy, and therefore your due date, is determined between 9 and 12 weeks. Before 10 weeks of pregnancy, a term ultrasound is always an internal ultrasound. The costs are reimbursed by your (Dutch or EU) health insurer.

13-weeks ultrasound (ETSEO)

In the context of research, you can have a 13-week ultrasound between 12+3 and 14+3 weeks. During this medical ultrasound, it is checked whether your baby has any physical abnormalities. The 13-week ultrasound is financed from the National Budget (Rijksbegroting) and therefore does not entail any extra costs for you.

20-weeks ultrasound (SEO)

You can have a 20-week ultrasound between 19 and 21 weeks. During this medical ultrasound, the health of your baby is assessed. You can come to us for a 20-week ultrasound upon referral from your obstetrician/gynaecologist. The costs are reimbursed by your (Dutch / EU) health insurer.

Position ultrasound

This ultrasound takes place between 34 and 36 weeks. During a positioning ultrasound we check whether the baby is lying with the head or buttocks down. The costs are reimbursed by your (Dutch / EU) health insurer.

Grow ultrasound

If necessary, a growth ultrasound will take place, during which the midwife will assess whether the baby is growing well. Usually, two growth ultrasounds are needed to obtain a reliable picture of the growth. These ultrasounds are typically performed no earlier than 28 weeks of pregnancy. The costs of the ultrasounds will be reimbursed by your health insurer upon receiving a referral from your obstetrician/gynecologist.

3D and 4D fun ultrasounds

"Our ultrasound machine is the Rolls Royce among ultrasound machines. With the Voluson S10, we can capture your baby in the highest quality, from still images to moving ones, and from black and white to color. We combine 2D, 3D, and 4D techniques to provide the most beautiful imagery."

You will always receive 3-5 printed photos and a USB stick with the moving images.

The best chance for beautiful 3D/4D images is between 20-30 weeks of pregnancy. It can happen that the position of the baby or the amount of amniotic fluid hinders clear images, despite combining all techniques.

Important to know

A few things that are good to know in advance to prevent disappointments.

gender reveal ultrasound

You should be at least 15 weeks pregnant to be able to see the gender in most cases. However, a little cooperation from your baby is also needed. To increase the chances of success, we advise you to come with a full bladder. Drink 2 large glasses of water one hour before the appointment. You will receive printed photos at the end of the ultrasound and a USB stick.

Fun ultrasound

We examine the baby in 2D, 3D, and 4D. The best chance for beautiful images is between 27-29 weeks of pregnancy. During the ultrasound, you will receive printed photos and a USB stick with moving images.

This ultrasound is purely for observation purposes and has no medical intention. It means that the baby's measurements will not be taken. If you desire to have measurements taken, which we do from 28 weeks onwards and not earlier, you can indicate this to your midwife before scheduling the appointment.

Note: besides having good equipment and skilled sonographers, we also need the cooperation of your baby.
